Nigerians dominate upcoming KORA Awards

Nigerian artists prominently dominated nominations for 2016 KORA music Awards scheduled for March 20 in Windhoek, Namibia.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) checks on the nominees for the All African Music Awards revealed that no fewer than 15 Nigerian artists and musical works were nominated for various categories.
NAN reports that the Kora awards, seeing to be comparable to the American Grammy, recently released its 2016 nomination list which included 26 categories,
Nominated works by Nigerian artists for the Best Video of the Year included Flavour for ‘Golibe’ and Korede Belo for ‘God Win’
For the category of Best Collaboration of the Year included; Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks for ‘Adaobi’, Sarkodie & Caspro for ‘Adonal’ and JJK and Bracket for Mayday SOS.
Other Nigerian artists who made the nomination list included; Reekado Banks for Most Promising Male Artiste of Africa and Yemi Alade for Most Promising Female Artiste of Africa.
Flavour and Davido were nominated for Best Male Artist- West Africa; Tiwa Savage for Best Female Artist – West Africa and Bracket for Best African Group.
Lara George was nominated for Best Female Artist – Spiritual Music; BNG for Best Group-Spiritual Music and P-Square for Legendary Award.
NAN reports that the awards is named after the West African string instrument called the Kora, used by most African cultures and seen to represent the beauty of African music.
The awards show to be held in Windhoek, coincided with the celebration of the National day of Namibia and will be officially broadcasted live on SoundcityTV.
The Award recognises musical talents across Africa. (NAN)
