Governor Ifeanyi Okowa
Over 100 members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) in Ward 5, Ovu Inland, Ethiope East local government area, Delta state, have decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Vanguard reports.
This came even as the Ovu PDP members passed a vote of confidence vote on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Kingsley Esiso, the state party chairman, in an enlarged meeting of the party at the residence of the ward chairman, Chief Andrew Ichikpro.
Receiving the new members into the party’s fold at the enlarged meeting of the ward, Chief Ichikpro charged the PDP faithful to be united and work relentlessly to build on the successes of the party in the area.
He advised all party faithful to respect elders and leaders of the party.
According to him, that has been one of the core values and pride of the party.
The setback for LP and APC in Delta state comes just days after the latter party lost at least 6000 members of its members in Idanre local government area of Ondo state to the PDP.
According to the defectors, their decision to join the PDP is due to their love for the PDP factional governorship candidate in the state, Eyitayo Jegede.
