Twin Bomb Blast Rocks Jos

Report coming in states that twin bomb blasts have hit the ancient city of Jos. 
Witnesses say simultaneous bombs have exploded at a motor park and opposite a university in the city of Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria.

They say that the first blast was outside the university gate while the other blast was by the gates of Bauchi Park.
Daily trust are reporting that a suicide bomber was responsible for one of the attacks, the one at the motor park in Bauchi road.
As of now, the amount of casualties is still unknown, but the University of Jos Pharmacy gate is usually crowded and conveys passengers from Jos to Bauchi.
Daily trust correspondents close to the scene saw Special Task Force and Nigerian Police evacuating corpses and the injured as they speed pass the Bauchi road area.
Reuters have confirmed the news and said that simultaneous bombs exploded at a bus station and opposite a university.
“There was a loud explosion opposite the university along the Bauchi road, and another one at the Bauchi road motor park,” Garba Musa, a newspaper vendor along the road, told Reuters by telephone.
Military spokesman in Plateau state capital Jos confirmed the news to Vanguard but failed to state the number of casualties.
One witness on the scene, driver Ibrahim Hashidu, told AFP that 17 people had been confirmed dead, with the first explosion killing five people and the second causing 12 deaths.
One source told Sahara reporters that the first blast happened at the entrance of the University of Jos near the College of Forestry, where the students are writing exams.
While the second one was at the second biggest park in Jos, Central Motor Park which is also located close to a military checkpoint.
The blasts were said to have been 200 meters apart and are said to have occurred just before 5pm. It is also notable that there was a blast last year on this same stretch of road.
UPDATE: None Of Our Students Died – University Of Jos
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Oki has revealed that 13 people died in the attack and 14 people were injured.
Reporters however counted nine courses at the scene of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital mortuary and 11 injured people hospitalized at the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The nine corpses were placed on the mortuary floor and also one of the dead were a police traffic officer.
The corpses are said to all had injuries to the head with one being completely mutilated.
The hospital management have however declined to comment on the issue, but one nurse told Premium times that most of the injured victims were in stable condition Friday morning. She called for blood donations.
Four of the injured are currently being treated at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital. One passed away unfortunately this morning.
University of Jos spokesperson, Abdullahi Abdullahi has denied the news going around that 12 students had passed away.
He said: “The report in some national dailies that the University of Jos lost 12 of it students to the blast was false. No student or any member of the university community was affected by the explosions. As I speak with you the second semester examinations are ongoing. We have intensified security of lives and property in all our campuses.”
At the scene of the blast, it was gathered from witnesses that four commercial drivers were killed in the explosion.
